May 2007 — "Wow, this was an amazing experience! My wife and I did the Adventure Tour on the weekend, and it was the highlight of our trip to Canmore. First off, our guide Eli was excellent. Not only was he a wealth of information about caves, he just seemed like a really nice guy. Secondly, the caves themselves are stunning. Being a 'natural' tour, there is no artificial light inside the cave, only the lights from safety helmets. This adds to the excitement of the whole experience. At one point, we all turned off our lights and, in complete darkness, listened to the dripping water inside. This was an excellent idea. The rappel and the Laundry Chute are definitely worth it (you must be relatively fit to do both, but no experience is necessary). The Laundry Chute is a 40-foot, L-shaped passage that is narrow enough to give anyone the jitters. Once inside, there's barely enough space to turn your head around. That said, once you're through it feels like a tremendous accomplishment. Not surprisingly, I HIGHLY recommend this tour."

Descend underground into the mysterious Rat's Nest Cave. Situated under Grotto Mountain near Canmore, passages undulate below ground for 4 km. Discover a world of stalctites/stalagmites, animal fossils and sparkling clear water on guided excursions. Tours include an adventure tour with rapelling, and explorer tour without rapelling, and a canyon to cave tour that includes a hike to Grotto Canyon. Tours include coveralls, helmet, gloves and head light. While tours are strenuous, no experience is necessary. Tours operate year round as caves are naturally insulated for consistent temperatures.
