May 2011 — "Skied Banff's Sunshine Village in May and skied Powder. not corn snow real powder. Has 3 Mountains Goat's Eye is my favorite. Stayed on slope at Sunshine Mountain Lodge and got first tracks before other skiers even parked their cars. I Love this Mountain."

April 2009 — "Sunshine is just one of several ski resorts in and around the Canadian Rockies but its terrain is one-of-a-kind. While the others boast mountain-top ridges and mostly tree-lined runs (all climbing from the base villages), Sunshine features mostly open-bowl terrain with lifts and runs going in all directions - more like the high resorts of Europe. The gondola and run from the parking lot base to the ski area's main base also make it unique - it's not ideal, but something different and kind of cool in that the buses and cars upon cars are not really a part of the mountain at all and once you're up in the ski area, you feel away from it all. The conditions were pretty cruddy when I went so I'd have to go again on a better day to be sold on it but I liked the facilities, groovy runs and general vibe. "

"A Ski Paradise"

March 2008 — "I've been to six ski fields around Calgary now and Sunshine is my favourite. I'm a beginner skier and I love the wide open runs that this resort offers. Taking the gondola up above the tree-line, stunning white peaks spread all the way to the horizon - it makes you feel on top of the world. There is a variety of runs off most of the lifts, and I love the choice I have there as a beginner skier - lots of greens and achievable blues, so it's a great place for getting your confidence up. And the black runs are fun too (according to friends who ski much better than me). The staff at the rental centre are efficient and really seem to know what they're doing, although it can still take a while on really busy days of course. I guess getting hold of equipment before going is always the best option. The lodge at the top of the gondola is great too - it has a bustling bar that serves good food at surprisingly reasonable prices. "

"Best Skiing around!"

January 2008 — "Sunshine is hands-down my favorite ski hill! I love the fact that you can't see the ugly parking lot from the hill (a gondola takes you high up into the mountains), so you feel like your in a whole other world. The offer a large number of runs that range in difficulty. The best part however, is how much powder they get. In my experience they have the best powder around. I would most definitely recommend Sunshine Village. "

Description

This vast high alpine resort can only be reached via gondola and is situated on the Continental Divide. It offers three mountains and 9 m (30 ft) of natural snow annually. It is open until late May each season. Highlights include Banff's only ski-in/ski-out hotel, a fast eight-person gondola, seven quad lifts (five high speed) with 12 lifts in total.

Sunshine 5000 Ski Mountaineering Competition

The Sunshine 5000 Ski Mountaineering Competition is a two-day event held at Sunshine Village in cooperation with the Alpine Club of Canada. The competition features backcountry skiing and mountaineering (vertical climbing and boot-pack sections) in three categories (Race, Citizen and Introductory). Open for both men and women.

Dave Irwin Brain Injury Foundation Dash for Cash

Dave Irwin's Dash for Cash is an annual fundraising event for the Dave Irwin Foundation for Brain Injury and features teams of four participating in dual slalom format races in support of acquired brain injury education, research and outreach programs. The annual event is held at Sunshine Village Ski Resort in February.
